BIOGRAPHY
Kim Mathews is an American painter and landscape architect. She paints plein air and in her sunlit studio in Brooklyn. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting in 1975 (University of NC at Chapel Hill) and a Master of Landscape Architecture in 1983 (University of Pennsylvania). Her award-winning design career and recognition as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects stems from her work at MNLA, a landscape architectural firm she co-founded in NYC https://www.mnlandscape.com.
Kim loves the act of painting. This, together with her desire to reveal landscapes that she experiences firsthand and her ability to read ecological processes, brings an immediacy to her work. In painting and drawing, she celebrates and identifies landscape layers and their seasonal and ephemeral qualities.
